Who this pathway fits — and who it doesn’t (yet)
No programme fits everyone, and the ones that claim to are the ones to walk away from. Read this before you apply — it will cost you three minutes and could save you a year.
It fits if
Built for people in exactly this spot
Upper secondary didn’t work out
You finished Year 11, Grade 10 or secundaria — then A-levels, IB, Grade 12 or prepa went sideways, or you never finished them. The lower-secondary passes are in hand; it is the last stretch that is missing. That is exactly the gap the Certificate semester is built to close.
You are done with the retake loop
Another year on the same syllabus, ending in the same exam hall, is a plan you no longer believe in. This is a different route — six months of new material, assessed differently — that still ends at Year 1 of a degree.
You do your best work by doing
The included BTEC Level 3 — equivalent in size to one A-level — is assessed through coursework: plan a marketing campaign, manage an event, build and lead a team. If projects bring out more of you than exam papers ever did, this format plays to that.
You want a real timeline, not a gap year by default
Four starts a year — February, May, August and November — and a degree direction in business, hospitality or culinary arts at the end of it. The next step can be months away instead of a year.

Every honest gate turns some people away. If one of these is you, the route is not closed — it just has a step before this one.
You are younger than 17
The minimum age is 17 — it is a hard line, not a negotiation. If you are 16, the good news is that four intakes a year makes the wait short: pick the start after your birthday and use the time on your English level. Talk to admissions now about which intake fits your date.
You do not yet hold the lower-secondary passes
The academic floor is 5 iGCSEs including Maths and English, or equivalent. Without those, an application will not get through — and we would rather tell you that here than after you have paid anyone anything. Finish those qualifications first, then talk to us: the pathway will still be here, four times a year.
You want a degree outside business, hospitality or culinary arts
The Certificate bridges into three specific BHMS/RGU bachelor degrees. If your goal is medicine, law or engineering, this is not your route — and a pathway site that tells you otherwise is selling, not advising.

“Or equivalent” is genuine — school systems map differently, and admissions assesses yours case by case. If you are not sure whether your certificates count, ask rather than guess: WhatsApp admissions.

- I am at least 17 — or will be by my chosen intake (ask admissions about timing).
- I hold 5 iGCSE passes including Maths and English, or my school system’s equivalent.
- My English is at 5.0 / B2 — or I can show the equivalent.
- A degree in business, hospitality or culinary arts is a direction I actually want.
- I can commit to six months in Lucerne, coursework and all.
